Saint Agatha Resource Center Policy
The Resource Center functions as a collaborative effort in order to facilitate academic success. The policy stated below will assist students in receiving the support and encouragement needed as they progress toward grade level. The goal of the program is to have the school, parents/guardians, and students communicate openly and stay positive during the school year.
> Resource Center teachers will maintain continuous contact with parents/guardians regarding student progress by emails, phone conversations, and/or meetings. Parents are encouraged to contact the Resource Center whenever they have questions or concerns.
> Resource Center teachers will be a liaison between parents/guardians and the public schools, providing parents with information regarding special education services.
> Parents/guardians of students currently on IEPs or 504 Plans will notify the Resource Center of annual review meetings scheduled by the public school. By law the classroom teacher has to attend all initial and review meetings. If the public school fails to notify parents/guardians of annual reviews, parents/guardians need to inform the Resource Center. When a student is being tested by the public school for the first time, parents/guardian will notify the Resource Center and the classroom teacher of the initial team meeting with the public school. We will assist with the process.
> Classroom teachers and Resource Center teachers will attend IEP and 504 meetings conducted by the public schools. Resource Center teachers will advocate for parents/guardians and students. They will relay all pertinent information to the principal and St. Agatha staff members that work with the students.
> Resource Center teachers will provide specific services agreed upon by parents/guardians, principal, Resource Center staff, and classroom teachers after reviewing recommendations made in the IEP or 504 Plans. Classroom teachers will address classroom accommodations agreed upon by parents/guardians, principal, Resource Center staff, and classroom teachers after reviewing recommendations made in the IEP or 504 Plans.
> Resource Center staff and classroom teachers will collaborate on a regular basis to foster academic success.
> Students will agree to use "I can" language toward academics.
> Students will come prepared to the Resource Center and agree to completed assignments to strengthen academic skills.
