When you receive the date of the Team Meeting, it is imperative that you notify the Resource Center so that we can arrange for the attendance of your child's classroom teacher along with a member of the Resource Center.
The Team includes:
- You, the parent/guardian
- Your child (when appropriate)
- At least one general education teacher
- At least one special education teacher
- A district representative who is knowledgeable about the general education curriculum and the availability of district resources
- An individual who can interpret evaluation results.
- Other individuals with knowledge or special expertise regarding your child, including related services providers, at your or district invitation.
During the Meeting:
- The Team will review evaluation data. You will receive copies of any assessment reports you have not previously received. Each report should include a summary of assessment procedures used, results, and diagnostic information.
- The Team will determine eligibility for special education. Your child's needs will be outlined and Team members will offer explicit means of meeting the needs.
- If a leaning disability is determined, a rough draft of an IEP (Individual Education Plan) will be proposed.
- The services and goals proposed in the Draft IEP are preliminary recommendations and will be reviewed and revised by the entire Team, including you.
- The completed IEP must be given to you within three to five days at your request, but no later than two calendar weeks from the conclusion of the Team meeting.
