Keep All Your Information Organized
Creating an IEP binder is a simple, yet very useful tool that will assist you to be organized during, and in between, Team Meetings.
1. Begin by purchasing a large, sturdy three-ring binder and a three-ring hole puncher.
2. In the binder you should keep a copy of:
> your referral letter
> copies of all evaluations/testing
> copies of all IEP Plans including rough drafts
> letters/emails to and from the public schools
> all other pertinent information or documentation
3. Documents should be arranged in chronological order. Index dividers can be used to further organize by type of document. However, use whatever system is easiest for you.
4. Once your binder is full, do not throw away any of the records. If the documents no longer fit in your binder, store them in a file cabinet or keep them in the binder and purchase a new one. You never know when you may need to refer back to the records!
